A Journey of Excellence Since 1980
Established on 9 July 1980, Mayoor School, Ajmer is a premier educational institution founded under the auspices of the Mayo College General Council. The School was established in accordance with the visionary ideals of its erstwhile President, H.H. Maharao Bhimsingh Ji of Kotah, whose commitment to extending high-quality education to the people of the Ajmer region inspired its inception. Over the decades, Mayoor School has evolved into a centre of academic excellence, dedicated to nurturing intellectual growth, character development, and holistic education while upholding the highest standards of learning and values.
To accommodate the institution’s expanding academic infrastructure, the Mayo College General Council developed this sister institution on a strategic site directly opposite the prestigious Mayo College, encompassing the heritage Kotah Art School and the historic Waddington Grounds.
The School was formally inaugurated by H.H Maharana Bhagwat Singh Ji of Udaipur (Mewar), marking the inception of its educational mission. Visionary leadership during the formative years was provided by Shri Danmal Mathur, who served as the founding Headmaster, while the foundational administrative framework was established under the guidance of Shri G. R. Naidoo, the first Office Superintendent.
Beginning its journey with 186 students and a dedicated team of seven teachers, the School has grown remarkably over the decades. Today, it has carved its identity as one of India’s finest examples of a progressive, comprehensive, and future-ready educational institution proudly serving a student community of more than 2,300 learners, supported by a faculty of over 120 educators.
Its unwavering commitment to academic excellence, holistic development, and character building continues to uphold the vision on which it was founded and has earned it a distinguished place among leading schools in the country.

THE MAYOOR SCHOOL
Mayoor School, Ajmer was founded on the 9th of July, 1980 under the auspices of the Mayo College General Council. It was the vision of erstwhile President of Mayo College General Council late H.H. Maharao Bhimsinghji of Kotah to serve the noble cause of providing high quality education to the inhabitants of Ajmer region. The motivation of the Council led to the founding of Mayoor School – a co-educational day school that would function along the lines of a public school. It was decided that Mayoor School being a sister concern of Mayo College would be set up just opposite Mayo College behind the two grass football grounds adjoining the Kotah Sanatorium. The space occupied by vacant staff bungalows and the historic Waddington Ground was utilized to build the school.Mayoor School Ajmer was inaugurated by the late Maharana Bhagwat Singhji of Udaipur (Mewar). Mr. Danmal Mathur served as the first Headmaster of the school and Mr. G.R. Naidoo as the first Office Superintendent. The school which started with one hundred and eighty six boys and girls and teaching staff comprising seven members has flourished by leaps and bounds over the thirty and more years of its existence. The number of students has grown to two thousand one hundred plus and the teaching community now comprises ninety plus members. Mayoor School, Ajmer has developed into one of the finest examples of a progressive and comprehensive educational institution to be found anywhere within the shores of our country and beyond.
Over the years, it has grown into a respected institution known for academic excellence and all-round development.
